Adam Gebb is a highly regarded conservation strategist and environmental leader, focusing on addressing landscape connectivity challenges through close collaboration with Indigenous and rural communities. As the Executive Director of the Andes Amazon Conservancy, he plays an integral role in protecting vital wildlife migration corridors that connect the Andes and the Amazon. With over three decades of experience in wildlands conservation, Adam has spearheaded comprehensive wildlife migration and corridor studies, crafting innovative solutions that balance ecological preservation with community needs. His work reflects a deep commitment to sustaining ecological integrity while empowering local communities to thrive.

Born and raised in New York City, Adam initially pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Marketing from Northeastern University in Boston. However, his growing passion for environmental conservation led him to change direction, seeking further education in ethno-ecology and tropical ecology at San Francisco State University in 1989. This pursuit took him to Northern Thailand, where he gained invaluable insights into tropical ecosystems and the intricate relationship between Indigenous communities and their environment. During this time, Adam witnessed firsthand the disconnect between government-led conservation efforts and the needs of local people, shaping his future approach to conservation that emphasizes collaborative solutions with Indigenous communities.

In 2018, Gebb made the pivotal decision to move to Ecuador, founding the Andes Amazon Conservancy with a vision to protect some of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems. The organization partners with various Indigenous nations, such as the Shuar, Kichwa, Shiwiar, and Sapara, to safeguard the rainforests while fostering sustainable development. As Executive Director, Adam leads efforts to establish a 300-kilometer wildlife migration corridor connecting the Amazon rainforest with the Andes Mountains. His focus on landscape connectivity recognizes the necessity of conservation networks that allow wildlife to migrate freely across resource areas, ensuring they can meet their lifecycle needs. This approach is particularly crucial in the Amazon, where deforestation and road construction threaten habitat integrity and ecosystem health.

A central element of Adam Gebb's conservation work in Ecuador is food sovereignty, critical in maintaining ecological health and community well-being. The deforestation caused by road construction and other industrial developments has led to environmental degradation and the loss of traditional food sources for many Indigenous territories. In response, Adam collaborates with local leaders to design conservation land use plans incorporating sustainable agriculture and edible forests, integrating these practices with broader environmental protection efforts. His ultimate goal is establishing interconnected wildlife migration corridors and human food sovereignty networks, ensuring ecosystems and communities flourish together.

Among Gebb's most significant achievements is his leadership in the Edible Forest Program. This groundbreaking initiative reconnects fragmented rainforests by planting diverse forest corridors with native fruit, nut, and edible palm trees. This program addresses two pressing challenges: biodiversity conservation and food security. By restoring ecological connectivity and increasing access to locally sourced, nutritious food, the Edible Forest Program empowers Indigenous communities while safeguarding the delicate ecosystems of the Amazon. Through this innovative work, Adam Gebb continues to blend environmental conservation with community-driven solutions that support ecological resilience and human well-being.
